A 5-time .NET MVP, Goff Receives 2010 MVP Award for SQL Server

For the 6th consecutive year, Kevin S. Goff, SetFocus trainer and courseware author, was awarded Microsoft MVP status. A 5-time recipient of the MVP award for .NET, Kevin received his 2010 MVP award for SQL Server. Of 100 million technical community participants worldwide, only about 260 are SQL Server MVPs.

The Microsoft MVP is an annual award given to exceptional technical community leaders worldwide who voluntarily share their deep, real-world knowledge about Microsoft technologies with others. Kevin’s role as SetFocus Business Intelligence instructor and courseware author embodies the guiding principles of the Microsoft MVP — sharing experience with the technical community – in this case, through the role of teacher.

“My role in building and continually improving the courseware and training in the SQL Server and Business Intelligence Master’s Programs is the culmination of my life-long interest in teaching” remarked Kevin on the occasion of his award. “I am honored by the recognition I’ve received as a 6-time recipient of the Microsoft MVP award. But even without the award, I would still be doing the same thing.”

“Kevin brings an unswerving passion for training and the technology to his role as instructor for the Business Intelligence Master’s Program” declared Ananthalakshmi (Priya) Chidambaram, SetFocus director of training and support. “Plus his experience as an award-winning application developer for a broad range of industries allows him to add the richness of real-world savvy to the Program.”

In addition to his role as instructor and courseware developer for SetFocus, Kevin is a gifted software developer and a prolific writer and speaker. He is an accomplished textbook author hard at work on a new book “Expert Business Intelligence Solutions with SQL Server 2008R2 and Microsoft 2010 Technologies” scheduled for publication in late 2010.

Kevin also fulfills the principle of the MVP award with regular posts to both his own blog, www.KevinSGoff.net. Kevin’s blog posts are frequently featured on the SetFocus blog, SetFocus Connect.

SetFocus Forms SharePoint 2010 Transition Team of Industry Experts to Present Seminar Series March 18-19

SetFocus, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Learning Solutions, has responded to the need of millions of SharePoint licensees by gathering a team of industry experts to present a series of seminars on easing the transition to SharePoint 2010.

SharePoint Server is one of the most widely adopted products in Microsoft history with over 100 million current licensees. Although powerful, earlier versions of SharePoint “can be difficult to bend or stretch if you’re not a .NET developer” remarked Kevin S. Goff, Microsoft MVP, “SharePoint 2010 is poised to prove the third time’s the charm paradigm.”

With SharePoint 2010 due to launch in the first half of this year, businesses are eager to implement this “friendlier” version to improve efficiency and productivity. Current licensees face the challenge of maintaining productivity while transitioning from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010.

“Our SharePoint 2010 Seminar Series is a great way for current SharePoint developers, administrators, architects, and power users to learn the key aspects of SharePoint 2010 from experts in the field all in one shot” declared Matt Jandorf, SetFocus Manager of Corporate Relations. “Our aim is to provide access to experts with helpful, practical information and tips to ensure a seamless transition to the new platform.”

The Seminar Series comprises 4 half-day sessions on March 18 and 19, 2010.

The first seminar on the morning of the 18th, “Developing with LINQ to SharePoint 2010”, features Steven Fowler, sought-after author, speaker and instructor with over 15 years of progressive software project management, architecture and engineering experience. Steven has worked with SharePoint since its 2003 version, recently completed one of the world’s largest SharePoint implementations, and has SharePoint 2010 projects already underway.

“Migrate to SharePoint 2010 – Stress Free!” the 2nd of the series, will be presented by Nick Kellett, CTO of StoneShare, and a recognized expert in the areas of Web 2.0 and SharePoint. Nick was one of the first professionals in the world to achieve a MS SharePoint certification and hosts a lively SharePoint blog aptly named Planet MOSS.

The morning of the 19th commences with the 3rd seminar, “SharePoint 2010 Branding”, featuring David Sterling, author, consultant, and CEO of Sterling International Consulting Group. A Microsoft technology specialist since the 90’s, David is a noted SharePoint expert and author of “Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 – The Complete Reference”.

Kevin S. Goff will round out the 4-seminar series with “Business Intelligence with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010” on the afternoon of the 19th. Kevin is an instructor and courseware developer for SetFocus and 6-time recipient of the Microsoft MVP award. Goff is a frequent speaker and has recently authored the book, “Expert Business Intelligence Solutions with SQL Server 2008R2 and Microsoft 2010 Technologies”, available late 2010.

Registration and pricing information for the SharePoint 2010 Seminar series is available at http://www.setfocus.com/marketing/spseminarseries.aspx.
